Today more than ever, the governance of corporations, government agencies and non-profit organizations is an issue of crucial importance to Canadians. Research is an essential step in creating new knowledge about corporate governance and implementing evidence-based recommendations. The Institute of Corporate Directors established the Governance Research Foundation to act as a catalyst for new ideas by providing the funds necessary to foster cutting-edge research in corporate governance, strengthening this research capacity in Canada and ensure the effective dissemination of the knowledge acquired. The FCRG primarily focuses its efforts on administering the Robert Bertram Doctoral Research Fellowship program, through which young, next-generation fellows can explore issues related to corporate governance and help build the research capacity in this area in the country.
