HEC Montréal Trottier Masters Scholarship 2024

Aimed at students at Montreal Campus (Polytechnique Montréal, HEC Montréal, University of Montreal) starting a program of study at the graduate level - research or Ph.D. only - in the field of energy. These scholarships are designed to help students finance their research projects or activities related to their field of study (ex.: research internships, supervised project or thesis).

Aim and Benefits of HEC Montréal Trottier ScholarshipTrottier Masters Scholarship

The scholarship is valued at $13,500.00. The scholarship is renewable annually, for a maximum duration of two (2) years for the research master's degree


Requirements for HEC Montréal Trottier ScholarshipTrottier Masters Scholarship Qualification

This competition is reserved exclusively for students whose field of research is deemed compatible with the mission of the IET (see program objective).

In addition, for an application to be accepted, the candidate must:

  • Be registered in a research master's or doctoral program in one of the three Campus Montréal institutions
    • for at most two sessions (first registration fall 2022 at the earliest)

OR

  • be eligible for a research master's or doctoral program in anticipation of starting studies within the year following admission (first registration in summer 2023, fall 2023 or winter 2024)
  • Have completed the baccalaureate with a minimum academic average (or its equivalent) depending on the institution to which you belong:

HEC: 3.5/4.3
Polytechnique: 3.25/4
UdeM: 3.5/4.3

  • Have completed the master's degree (if applicable) with a minimum academic average (or its equivalent) depending on the institution of affiliation:

HEC: 3.8/4.3
Polytechnique: 3.5/4
UdeM: 3.8/4.3

  • Have a commitment from the research director to increase the scholarship by an amount of at least $5,000 per year.


Interview date, Process and Venue for HEC Montréal Trottier ScholarshipTrottier Masters Scholarship

  • Submission deadline : January 26, 2024
  • Deadline for announcing winners: February 23, 2024
  • Deadline for scholarship acceptance: March 15, 2024

Among the accepted applications, the selection of recipients in each of the study cycles will be made on the basis of the following criteria:

  • The quality of the university file
  • Research skills
  • Relevant research experience
  • The scientific quality and societal interest of the research project

The evaluation of the files will be the responsibility of a selection committee.

How to Apply

Students interested in the competition must submit an application file , consisting of the following elements:

  1. The duly completed application form.
  2. A copy of transcripts from all academic studies, such as those submitted with the application for admission.
  3. Two (2) letters of recommendation (to be sent directly to the IET by their author).
  4. Submission is made by email to [email protected] . The subject of the message must include the words “Trottier Scholarships”.

Before receiving the scholarship, recipients must submit a scholarship acceptance package , consisting of the following:

  1. The duly completed scholarship amount confirmation form.
  2. A letter from the research director committing to a minimum annual increase of $5,000 to this scholarship.
  3. Submission is made by email to [email protected] . The subject of the message must include the words “Trottier Scholarships Acceptance”.

On each anniversary date of obtaining the scholarship, recipients must submit a scholarship renewal file , consisting of the following elements:

  1. The duly completed scholarship amount confirmation form.
  2. The progress report, signed by the research director.
  3. A letter from the research director committing to a minimum annual bonus of $5,000 to this scholarship.
  4. Submission is made by email to [email protected] . The subject of the message must include the words “Trottier Scholarship Renewal”.

Notes:

  1. Only complete files will be evaluated
  2. All text must be written single-spaced in an 11-point font.
  3. Submit only PDF files. If it is a digitized document, ensure its readability.

The documents in the file must be clearly identified; use a nomenclature that includes the candidate’s first and last name as well as the nature of the document (e.g. Tremblay_Pierre-Releve_Notes.pdf).
