University of Guelph Autism Scholar Awards 2023 - 2024

With the support of the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU), a Scholar Awards Program in Autism has been established to ensure that Ontario attracts and retains pre-eminent scholars. The community of autism scholars fostered by this Awards Program will excel, according to internationally accepted standards of scientific excellence, in the creation of new knowledge concerning child autism, and its translation into improved health for children, more effective services and products for children with autism, and increase the province’s capacity in diagnosis and assessment of autism and a strengthened treatment system.

University of Guelph Autism Scholar Awards


Aim and Benefits of University of Guelph Autism Scholar Awards

For 2023-24, up to one award at the Master’s level and one at the Doctoral level will be made:

  • Master’s Awards - $18,000
  • Doctoral Awards - $20,000

Requirements for University of Guelph Autism Scholar Awards Qualification

To be eligible to receive an award, an applicant must be

  • a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada at the time of the application deadline,
  • registered as a full-time student in a master’s or doctoral program at an Ontario university at the beginning of the award period (fall 2024), and remain registered as a full-time student throughout the term of the award.
  • A master’s student remains eligible until the end of the sixth term of full-time study.
  • A doctoral student remains eligible until the end of the 15th term of full-time study.


Interview date, Process and Venue for University of Guelph Autism Scholar Awards

  • December 1, 2023 – Complete application package, including transcripts (copies sent via e-mail) due to the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at [email protected]
  • January 31, 2024 – If endorsed by the University of Guelph, the application is due to COU

Application Deadline

January 31, 2024


How to Apply

  1. Review the COU website for complete information and to access the application form.
  2. Submit a copy of the completed application package to OGPS via email to [email protected]. Referees should submit their assessments directly to [email protected]
  3. The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Awards Committee will review the applications and select those that will be forwarded to the COU for further consideration.
  4. Applicants will be notified if their application has been selected to be forwarded to the provincial competition by early February
