Established in 2008 through a bequest by the late Alvina Marie Werner. To be awarded to a graduating student enrolled in a Aging and Society or Social Work program who, in the judgment of the Faculty of Social Sciences, demonstrates outstanding academic achievement and interest in pursuing a career in social services in the specific area of gerontology.

- This award is specific to students in an Aging and Society or Social Work program.
- This award is not second degree eligible.
- Applicant must have read, understood and agreed to the Student Declaration.
- Applicant must be enrolled.
- Applicant must be graduating this academic year.
- Applicant must be a current student.
- Applicant must have a minimum 8.0 cumulative GPA.
- Applicant must have a minimum 60 graded units.
- Applicant must have a minimum of 3 sessional graded units
