Established in 2022 by Syrus Marcus Ware. To be awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in the School of the Arts who identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or racialized and demonstrate community involvement and leadership potential.

The McMaster University Edgar Lee Ware Memorial Award 2024 recipients will be awarded $3,000


Requirements for McMaster University Edgar Lee Ware Memorial Award Qualification

Applicants must meet all of the qualifications in at least one of the following groups

OR

  • Applicant must be an undergraduate.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in the School of the Arts.
  • Applicant must be pursuing a Bachelor's, Co-op, Honours Co-op or Honours program.
  • Applicant must be minimum academic level 1.
  • Applicant must be enrolled.
  • Applicant must be a current student.
  • Applicant must self-identify as a racialized person.
  • This award is not second degree eligible.
  • Applicant must have read, understood and agreed to the Student Declaration.
  • Applicants must have a minimum 9.5 sessional average.
  • Applicant must have a minimum 18 graded units.
  • Applicant must be eligible for in-course awards (Graduating students are not eligible).
  • Applicant must be an undergraduate.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in the School of the Arts.
  • Applicant must be pursuing a Bachelor's, Co-op, Honours Co-op or Honours program.
