Benefits

  • $3,000 CAD

  • Two scholarships available each year:

    • One for a student at University of New Brunswick (UNB) — Fredericton or Saint John

    • One for a student at Université de Moncton

  • Can be used for tuition, textbooks, transportation, or living expenses

Requirements

  • Member of a New Brunswick First Nations community

  • Indigenous ancestry (proof required)

  • Enrolled full-time or part-time in an engineering program at UNB or Université de Moncton

  • In good academic standing

Interview Dates and Process

Selection Criteria Includes:

  • Motivation and career goals (evaluated through essay)

  • Academic standing

  • Quality of reference letter

  • Community involvement and extracurricular activities (via résumé)

  • Priority given to first-time applicants, though previous recipients may apply up to five times

Application Documents

  • Completed application form

  • Motivation essay (max 600 words)

  • Resume

  • Academic transcript (high school or university)

  • Proof of Indigenous ancestry (ID or community letter)

  • One letter of support (emailed separately by reference)

How To Apply

  • Download and complete the official application form (includes personal details, university program, and proof of Indigenous ancestry).

  • Write a motivation essay (max 600 words) describing:

    • Your motivation for studying engineering

    • Your career plans

    • How you plan to succeed in the field

  • Submit the following documents:

    • Proof of Indigenous ancestry (ID or letter from your community)

    • University or high school transcript

    • Résumé (include community involvement, extracurriculars, awards)

    • Motivation essay

  • Request a letter of support from a teacher, community leader, or professional. They must send it directly to: [email protected] by September 29, 11:59 p.m.

  • Please comment on the merit of the applicant and provide any information you feel would be appropriate. This information will be considered confidential. Please forward the completed form to the APEGNB office ([email protected]) by September 29th
