The Rick Blight Leadership in Action Scholarship recognizes young Canadian athletes who show outstanding leadership in sports while promoting mental wellness within their teams, communities, and personal lives. Established in memory of NHL player Rick Blight, the scholarship honours his legacy by supporting student athletes who advocate for emotional well-being and inspire others through action. With a total of four awards available: three valued at $2,000 and one at $1,000, this opportunity is open to Canadian students aged 16 to 21 pursuing post-secondary education.
Recipients of the Rick Blight Leadership in Action Scholarship will receive the following:
Three scholarships valued at $2,000 each
One scholarship valued at $1,000
National recognition for leadership in sports and advocacy for mental wellness
An opportunity to highlight your impact in your community and inspire others
A platform to honour and continue Rick Blight’s legacy by promoting mental health awareness in athletics
To be eligible for the Rick Blight Leadership in Action Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Age: Be a Canadian student between the ages of 16 and 21.
Education: Be entering or currently enrolled in a college or university undergraduate program.
Athletic Involvement: Show a strong dedication to sports or athleticism.
Mental Wellness Commitment: Demonstrate a commitment to promoting mental wellness
Residency: Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
