Awarded annually to an outstanding student entering an undergraduate degree program with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Eligible recipients must have an admission average of 90 percent or better and demonstrate a range of community or secondary school activities. Endowed in 2012 by GasTOPS Ltd.

Benefits

This entrance scholarship is valued at $7,500 in first year and renewable at $4,000 or $3,000 for second, third and fourth year with an A- standing (minimum annual GPA of 10.0). The Muir Entrance Scholarship in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering will replace any previously offered renewable entrance scholarship.

Requirements

You have applied and been offered admission to one of the following undergraduate degree programs at Carleton University for September:

  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering
  • Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering
  • Student entering first year of the program
  • Pursuing post-secondary studies for the first time
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person
  • Demonstrate leadership, community service and participation in extra-curricular activities throughout secondary school
  • Minimum admission average 90%

  • Please complete all 5 sections of the application form and include the referee form or a recommendation letter to support your application.
  • Section 4 - in point form, tell us about your secondary school extra curricular and community leadership activities; list only those activities that have occurred within the last four years; provide dates and estimated number of hours spent participating in each activity.
  • Applications must be received by the Awards Office by April 3, 2024.
