Dalhousie University Open Educational Resource in Computing Education Grant 2025

This grant is designed to support the development of high-quality open educational resources (OER) that can be used by instructors and students in computing education programs in the Faculty of Computer Science. We are looking for proposals that focus on innovative approaches to teaching computing concepts and skills, as well as those that address gaps in existing OER.

Requirements

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

• Alignment with the goals of the grant.
• Potential impact on computing education, including the ability to address gaps in existing OER.
• Clarity and feasibility of the project plan and budget.
• Qualifications and experience of the applicant(s).

All interested applicants are welcome to explain how they addressed the feedback from committee members during the resubmission of a proposal.

Selection Process

The grant recipient(s) will be announced by Monday, October 13, 2025. Applicants will be required to submit a brief report summarizing their experience and how it contributed to their academic and research goals. The funds must be spent over a period of 18 months upon receipt of acceptance of the award.

Application Documents

To apply for this grant, interested applicants must submit a proposal of no more than 2,500 words that includes the following:

• A description of the proposed OER, including its intended audience, topics covered, and pedagogical approach.
• A detailed project plan that outlines the development timeline, milestones, and deliverables.
• A budget that outlines how the grant funds will be used, including any additional funding or in-kind support.
• A brief biography of the applicant(s), highlighting their qualifications and experience in computing education.
