Students currently attending or planning to attend a post-secondary institution in Canada are invited to apply for the EnergyRates.ca College Scholarship 2026. A $500 award is available for the best essay (under 500 words) that discusses the future of the energy industry in a Canadian context or globally.

Benefits

The benefit of the EnergyRates.ca College Scholarship 2026 is a one-time financial award of $500 CAD. This scholarship is intended to help the winning student with education-related expenses such as tuition, books, school fees, or living costs.

Requirements

  1. Applicants must be enrolled in an American or Canadian post-secondary educational institution, or planning to enroll in such an institution within the following calendar year.
  2. The subject of the essay must fall within the parameters described above.
  3. The essay must be written in English or French, and have a length of no more than 500 words (not including title, applicant name, etc).
  4. The scholarship funds must be used for some education-related expense, such as tuition, books, school fees, room and board, etc.
  5. The winner of the scholarship grants EnergyRates.Ca non-exclusive publication rights to their essay, so that we can feature their winning essay on our scholarship site.
  6. EnergyRates.Ca reserves the right to select a panel of judges and scoring methodology at its own discretion.

How To Apply

  • Write an essay: Your essay should be no more than 500 words in length, discussing your perspective on the future of the energy industry. You can focus on any aspect, such as green energy, oil politics, nuclear power, or your own ideas.
  • Prepare your essay in an accepted format: The accepted formats are Microsoft Word (DOC, DOCX), Rich Text File (RTF), or Adobe Acrobat (PDF).
  • Go to the scholarship submission form in the scholarship webpage
  • Fill out all required fields in the submission form. These include your name, email address, and current address.
  • Upload your essay using the file upload section of the form.
  • Submit the form before the deadline of January 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM MST
