Benefits
Students in pre-apprenticeship training, or in a certificate or diploma studies can access up to $7,000 for their studies. Students in a Bachelor’s, Masters’ or PhD program can access up to $11,500 per year for any year of their studies.
Requirements
- Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Person.
- Resident of Alberta for 12 consecutive months before the start of your program.
- Have applied for or enrolled in a full-time program in a post-secondary school that is designated for provincial funding.
- Registered in a program that is at least 12 weeks in length for half of a bursary or 16 weeks for a full bursary.
- Plan to live and work in northern Alberta upon completion of your program and sign a return of service agreement.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Not in an apprenticeship program.
- Must not be in default of a provincial student loan.
- Provide valid proof of Indigenous ancestry – First Nations status card, Métis card, Inuit card, a current letter from your Band or Metis Settlement, or a current letter from an Indigenous organization you are actively involved with.
