Each year up to 4 grants valued at $15,000 are awarded to master’s students pursuing an academic research program directly related to the development of Nova Scotia’s renewable energy resources, sustainable technologies, energy efficiency or earth sciences.

Requirements
- Program and Institution: You must be accepted into a Master's level program in Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Business, or Engineering at a Nova Scotia university.
- Academic Standing: You must be in good academic standing in your undergraduate program.
- Citizenship/Residency: You must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant AND a permanent resident of Nova Scotia.
- Research Alignment: Your studies must be directly related to one of the prescribed areas of research.
- Research Proposal: You need to submit an outline of how your research meets the criteria and clearly define the economic impact of the outcomes of your research.
- Supervisor Approval and Research Topic: You must have approval from an academic supervisor to undertake a research project that falls under one of the outlined research topics:
- Capital Markets
- Cultural and Archaeological Heritage
- Engineering (Facilities, Marine Technology and Management)
- Environmental Studies
- Geosciences
- Human Health and Safety
- Project Finance
- Reservoir Analysis
- Resource Assessment
- Socioeconomic Studies
