ILWU Marine Scholarship 2025-2026

ILWU Canada recognizes First Nations as the first seafarers on our coast. In recognition of this fact the Union seeks to assist in breaking down barriers for entry into the marine industry. The ILWU 400, Marine Section Union Development Fund provides two annual scholarships for BC First Nations students wishing to enter the marine industry.

Requirements

• Applicants must be a Canadian Citizen
• Applicants must be from British Columbia
• Applicants must be BC First Nations students wishing to enter the marine industry.

Application Documents

Applicants for scholarship must provide all of the following relevant documentation before acceptance into the ILWU Canada Indigenous Marine Scholarship draw:

• High School transcripts.
• Verification of acceptance into a marine program and payment of registration of $2500 or more (Travel/lodging costs may be considered towards the $2500, if attending school from out of town.)
• Proof of indigenous status, either a photocopy of your status card or a letter from your Band.
• A letter of successful completion may be required.
