The Reflections Scholarship supports students who have lived experience with an eating disorder by helping them pursue their academic and career goals through education. It is awarded in recognition of someone's strength and courage in facing their eating disorder as well as their enthusiasm and tenacity for their chosen academic path and the career they plan to follow.
This year, a total of $30,000 will be awarded in scholarships, including the Elise Skoglund Bursary of $1,500. Scholarships in the amount of $5000 will be awarded to six recipients.
Permanent residents of British Columbia
Full-time students (3 or more classes) enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada, who are commencing or returning to a university or college program? starting between September 2025 - January 2026
Enrolled in any year of their first undergraduate degree (graduate students and students who are completing a second undergraduate degree are not eligible to apply)?
Currently accessing, or have previously accessed, support for an eating disorder and are far enough along in recovery to be able to meet the demands of their chosen program
Demonstrate a strong need for financial assistance in order to achieve their academic goals
Previous Looking Glass Scholarship winners are?not eligible to re-apply
Step 1: Please review both the program flyer and FAQ.
Step 2: Download and complete the 2025 Reflections Scholarship Essay form, which includes three short essays: Personal Statement on Recovery (500-750 words), Future Pathways essay (500-750 words), and a Financial Need Statement (maximum 300 words).
Step 3: Download the letter of recommendation form and send to a reference – someone who knows you in a professional, educational, or supportive role (e.g. teacher, employer, support worker). Please ask your referee to email the completed letter of recommendation directly to [email protected] by the application deadline.
Step 4: Download and complete the 2025/2026 budget form. Please note that this is an optional document you can submit as part of your application.
Step 5: In addition to the forms above, please prepare the following documents:
Confirmation of BC Permanent Residency (see FAQ for details)
Verification of having accessed support for an eating disorder (see FAQ for details)
Verification of student enrolment (copy of acceptance letter or email/letter from Admissions) AND confirmation of full-time studies (*Please see Important Note below regarding full-time status confirmation)
Important Note: All applicants must provide confirmation of full-time studies (3 or more classes) for September 2025; however, we recognize that many students do not register for courses until early to mid-summer. If you have not yet enrolled in courses at the time of submitting your application, you can send a copy of your course schedule to [email protected] separately before the application deadline. Please note that any applicants who fail to provide this verification either as part of your application submission or separately will not be considered eligible for the scholarship.
