The Barkley's of Avonmore Scholarship was established in 1977 through the generosity of Fred Barkley to assist a student from a devloping country to pursue advanced studies at McMaster University. Each year the Associate Vice President and Dean of Graduate Studies will identify a worthy graduate student from one of the developing countries to receive this award.
