Established in 1941 by the Honourable Jacob Nicol (Class of ‘00) of Sherbrooke, Quebec, in honour of Chancellor Howard P. Whidden, with a view to fostering relations of friendship and understanding between French-speaking and English-speaking Canadians.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Applicant must be a minimum academic level 2.
- Applicant must be an undergraduate.
- Applicant must be enrolled in a Bachelors, Co-Op program, Honours Co-op or Honours program.
- This award is not second degree eligible.
- Applicant must be enrolled.
- Applicant must have read, understood and agreed to the Student Declaration.
- Applicant must be a current student.
- Applicant must plan to travel to earn academic credit, pursue experiential learning opportunities, complete research or projects, participate in relief efforts, volunteer or work.
- Applicant must be intending to travel in the summer term.
- Applicant must have a minimum 7.0 cumulative GPA.
- Applicant must have a minimum 18 graded units.
