Benefits

Two Heaslip scholarships, valued at $15,000 each, will be presented to students in their second year of undergraduate studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland who are in financial need. The scholarship is renewable for 2 subsequent years. (Available to students who have earned 30 – 60 credit hours.)

Requirements

To be eligible, students must:

  • be registered for full-time studies,
  • have scholarship standing,
  • be in financial need, and
  • have demonstrated outstanding involvement in university and/or community affairs.

This scholarship is renewable for an additional two years so long as the student continues to meet ALL of the above criteria.

Using their @mun.ca email account, applicants must provide a curriculum vitae and statement of financial need (one PDF document). Applications will not be accepted using any other email address provider.

The curriculum vitae must include the following information (based on time at Memorial University; awards/services during high school are not applicable):

  • Name & contact information 
  • Student number
  • Overview of education and training (include certificates, diplomas, etc.)
  • Scholastic achievements (e.g. scholarships, awards, bursaries)
  • Non-scholastic achievements (e.g. athletic, leadership, volunteer awards)
  • Employment experience
  • On-campus service/volunteer experience (include provincial, national, international involvement)
  • Community service/volunteer experience (include provincial, national international involvement)
  • Conferences attended
  • Research interests/publications
  • Other areas as deemed appropriate by the applicant

The statement of need (no more than 500 words) must outline:

  • demonstrated financial need
  • how this scholarship would impact your undergraduate academic life
  • your efforts to fund your education

Application Deadline: September 25, 2024
