NEWH is the international nonprofit community connecting the hospitality industry through scholarships, education, leadership development, and recognition of excellence. NEWH, Inc. is proud to offer Structures of Hospitality Excellence (SOHE) Scholarships, providing up to $20,000 in funding to support tuition and other approved educational expenses for students pursuing careers in the trades within the hospitality industry

Benefits

Up to $20,000 in funding to support tuition and other approved educational expenses

Requirements

• Actively enrolled student: Certificate, technical diploma, or associate degree.
• 3.0 GPA (cumulative) or overall “B” average or grade percentage of 83% – 86% equivalent.
• Financial need through college for past/current/upcoming tuition or program approved books/supplies.
• Program in construction, electricity, pipe trades, plumbing, HVAC, etc., and interested in building, renovating, or maintaining various types of properties in the hospitality industry.

Application Documents

• Official Transcript: Transcripts and letter(s) may need to be sent in separately per college policy.
• Course description, including location and cost of the program enrolled in.
• Up to 3 letters of recommendation (example from professor, advisor, employer, etc.)
• Student essay (500-word maximum) to include:
  • Background of yourself and your experience
  • Your goals and objectives after graduation
  • What factors influenced you to pursue a career in the building trades?
  • Why is obtaining this scholarship important to you?
  • If your application is not accepted, what plans do you have for financing?
