SPE Canadian Educational Calgary Section Scholarship 2024

This year, the Society of Petroleum Engineers Canadian Educational Foundation will be awarding a scholarship provided by the SPE Calgary Section to students across Canada pursuing a degree or diploma with the intentions to enter the Energy Industry?upon graduation. This scholarship will be awarded to a passionate student who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the SPE community, whether through volunteering at SPE events, participating in a committee, or being involved in their educational institution's Student Chapter.

Benefits

  • The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) has partnered up with energy companies local to Calgary, AB to offer scholarships valued at $5,000
  • The recipients will also receive a guaranteed interview for an internship with the respective company. Students in their 2nd or 3rd years of study in the energy industry who are eligible to work in Canada, and are living in or willing to relocate to Calgary, AB for the potential internship term will be considered
  • This award is open to international and domestic students

Requirements

Scholarship recipients will be selected by a committee through a competitive process. Students submitting applications for scholarships must meet the following requirements: 

  • Be enrolled full-time in any diploma or degree program with interest in entering the Energy Industry (Note: Programs outside of engineering and graduate level programs DO qualify. However, we regret that 4th year undergraduate students are not eligible). 
  • Be an SPE member at the time of your application.?If you are not a member yet, you can easily join for free HERE, courtesy of Chevron.
  • Hold satisfactory academic standing (as determined by the SPECEF Scholarship Committee). 
  • Demonstrated outstanding commitment to the SPE community through volunteering at SPE events, participation in a committee, or involvement in their local Student Chapter.

Interview Dates and Process

These scholarships are open to students studying at all institutions in Canada. All scholarship applicants must be enrolled full-time in any diploma or degree program with an interest in the energy industry to be eligible. The scholarship is open to global citizens; applicants are NOT required to be Canadian citizens nor permanent residents to apply. However, we unfortunately cannot award the scholarship to a citizen from a U.S. sanctioned country
