The scholarship for Oceans was established specifically to encourage and recognize undergraduate students who, in addition to having a strong academic background, have a passion for engineering for the oceans and display evidence of volunteer activities, work experience and/or community leadership.
The Canadian Academy of Engineering comprises over 800 Fellows who have made outstanding contributions to engineering in Canada and around the world. They have demonstrated their dedication to the application of science and engineering principles to advance social, environmental, economic and technical solutions. One $2,000 grant or honorarium will be awarded in 2025 for each scholarship/award.
Applicants will be judged on academic and leadership achievements, answers provided in the application form and intent to pursue an engineering career that helps improve the stewardship of Canada’s ocean resources, in terms of, but not limited to, clean shipping, shipbuilding, renewable ocean energy, remote ocean sensing, improved environmental performance and efficiency of offshore oil and gas operations, seabed mining, coastal zone management, operations in harsh ocean environments, improved aquaculture and fish harvesting technologies, and advanced marine communications and navigation.
