The University of Laval AECSDUL Equity Diversity Inclusion Scholarships 2024 is open for application to interested applicant. The scholarship is aim to provide financial support to students who self-identify with certain equity-seeking groups and are enrolled in graduate law studies.

Benefits

  • 2 scholarships of varying amounts (one scholarship of $1,000 (essay or dissertation) and one scholarship of $1,250 (doctorate))

Requirements

  • Full-time admission to the master's (thesis or essay) or doctoral program since winter 2024;
  • Full-time registration (12 credits) at the time of receiving the scholarship (fall 2024), or have this status recognized by Student Financial Aid;
  • If part-time registration (6 to 11 credits), persons recognized as student parents under the terms of the Université Laval Student Parent Policy may be eligible for this competition. To this end, it is your responsibility to provide us with the certificate issued by the Registrar's Office by sending it, before October 1, to the following address: [email protected] . Allow 7 business days to obtain this document;
  • Be a member in good standing of the Association étudiante des cycles supérieures en droit (AECSDUL) at the time of submitting the application file;
  • Not hold any other scholarships, with the exception of a pathway scholarship (support for success), a financial precariousness scholarship or any other category of scholarships whose amount is less than $1,000;
  • Self-identify with at least one of the following equity-seeking groups:
    • Indigenous people;
    • Visible minorities;
    • Ethnic minorities;
    • Persons with disabilities;
    • LGBTQ2S+ persons;
    • Immigrants.

Evaluation criteria

  • Demonstration of leadership and perseverance (30%)
  • Demonstration of originality of the journey despite adversity (30%)
  • Demonstration of involvement in the community (30%)
  • Financial needs (10%)

The file must contain:

  • The self-idenification form;
  • A letter of two pages maximum highlighting the originality of the path, the main pitfalls encountered and how you faced them, your involvement in the community as well as a short description of your financial needs;
  • Attach the list of your sources of income for the academic year from May 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024, including doctoral contracts (for people from outside Quebec);
  • An up-to-date cutrriculum vitae.

Submission of the file

  • Complete applications must be submitted no later than October 6, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Any incomplete file or file received after the period indicated as the deadline will be rejected.
