University of Laval Doctoral Recruitment Scholarship in Orientation Sciences 2024

This scholarship aims to highlight the best record among the applications of students admitted to the doctoral program in counseling sciences in the winter, summer or fall session of the current calendar year. This scholarship recognizes the excellence of the academic record, the aptitude for research and the social commitment.

1 scholarship of $2,000 will be awarded to the recipient of the scholarship

Requirements

  • Have submitted an application for admission to the winter, summer or fall session of the previous calendar year to the doctorate in guidance sciences at the Faculty of Education Sciences at Laval University;
  • Be registered full-time (or be  deemed full-time according to Student Financial Aid ) in contributing courses in their program (including those in preparatory studies) in the fall session of the current calendar year;
  • Not hold a scholarship from a major funding agency (CRSH, FRQSC, IRSST) or another recruitment scholarship (e.g.: Citizen and World Citizen Scholarships, Leadership and Engagement Scholarship, etc.);
  • Have obtained a cumulative average of 3.5 or more out of 4.33 in graduate studies (or the equivalent).

*Part-time student (6 to 11 credits): If you are recognized or will be recognized as a student parent under the terms of Université Laval's Policy on Student Parents , you may be eligible for this competition. To this end, the recipient registered part-time in fall 2023 will be contacted and a certificate from the registrar will be required before the scholarship is paid.

Interview Dates and Process

Selection criteria:

Applications will be evaluated by a selection committee according to the following criteria:

  • Academic excellence (quality of the file and scholarships and prizes obtained) (30%);
  • Research aptitude and relevant experience (relevance of research experience and achievements) (20%);
  • The quality and scientific interest of the research project (originality and contribution to the advancement of knowledge and practices, clarity and precision of the objectives of the theoretical framework and methodology (30%);
  • Social engagement over the past three years (20%).

Note:  It is not possible to obtain more than one recruitment scholarship following participation in different competitions aimed exclusively at persons newly admitted to one or other of the doctoral programs of the Faculty of Education at Université Laval.
