University of Manitoba Chown Centennial Scholarship 2025

All high schools in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario are invited to select a recipient of the Chown Centennial Scholarship, currently valued at $1000 per student. This award is to be offered to the best "all-around" student graduating from the high school and selected according to criteria established by each school. This award may be held with any other University of Manitoba Entrance Scholarship.

Requirements

Applicants must be :

  • Grade 12 student at a high school in Manitoba or Northwestern Ontario

  • Grade 12 average of 85% or higher in courses that meet University of Manitoba admissions requirements

  • Recommended by your high school as the best “all-around” graduating student

  • Admitted to any University of Manitoba program

  • High school must submit the nomination form (students cannot apply directly)

  • Nomination form sent to schools in late May or early June

How To Apply

  • Meet the Eligibility Criteria:

    • You must be graduating from a high school in Manitoba or Northwestern Ontario.

    • You must have a Grade 12 average of 85% or higher in courses that meet University of Manitoba admissions criteria.

    • You must plan to attend the University of Manitoba in the fall after graduation.

  • Speak to Your High School Counselor or Principal:

    • Your school is responsible for selecting and nominating one student as their best “all-around” graduate.

    • Let your school know you're interested in being considered and ensure they know the deadline (June 30).

    • Highlight your academic, extracurricular, leadership, and community involvement—since this is an "all-around" student award.

  • Your School Submits the Nomination:

    • In late May or early June, your high school will receive an official nomination form from the University of Manitoba.

    • The school must fill it out and submit it on your behalf to the Financial Aid and Awards Office by June 30.

    • Important: Students cannot submit the form themselves—only schools can.

  • Wait for Notification:

    • If you’re selected, you will receive an official award letter from the University of Manitoba in late June or early July.
