Requirements

The Steering Committee of the Sixth Prairie Conservation and Endangered Species Conference established an endowment fund at the University of Manitoba from conference proceeds in 2002. The Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative has made a contribution to this fund. The purpose of the fund is to support graduate students at the University of Manitoba who are conducting research related to conservation issues in the Canadian Prairies.

The Sixth Prairie Conservation and Endangered Species Conference was held in Winnipeg in February of 2001 and attracted approximately 400 farmers, landowners, scientists, researchers, students, and prairie folk who were interested in contributing to the future of prairie conservation. The Conference theme - "Sharing Common Ground" - was the focus of presentations, as delegates discussed how to sustain all aspects of the prairie landscape for future generations. Outcomes from the Conference were intended to influence local land-use decisions, as well as Provincial and Federal policies and planning.

The fellowship shall be offered to graduate students who:

(1) are enrolled full-time in both the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms in the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies in any master's or doctoral program;

(2) have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 based on the last 60 credit hours (or equivalent) of study;
