The Workers Health & Safety Centre (WHSC) offers annual student scholarships to support graduating Ontario high school students pursuing post-secondary education. The scholarships are designed to raise awareness about occupational health and safety among young people entering the workforce.
Top Award: $6,000 (Clifford Pilkey Memorial Scholarship)
Second Place: $4,000 (Fred Upshaw Memorial Scholarship)
Up to Two Additional Winners per Category: $2,000 each
(Categories include video, poster, or essay)
Must be a graduating student from an Ontario high school in 2025
Must be planning to enroll in a post-secondary institution
Must submit a creative project (video, poster, or essay) on an occupational health and safety topic
Scholarship is awarded based on:
Quality and depth of the submitted work (video, poster, or essay)
Demonstrated understanding of occupational health and safety
Evidence of volunteerism and community involvement
Personal profile and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, educator, or community leader
Completed 2025 WHSC Scholarship Application Form
A video, poster, or essay exploring an occupational health and safety topic
A profile of volunteer/community work
A letter of recommendation from a teacher or community representative
Optional: Additional evidence supporting community or leadership activities
