The University of Saskatchewan Gabriel Dumont Graduate Scholarship in Metis Studies 2025 is open to students entering or continuing graduate studies in the College of Arts and Science who are pursuing or intend to pursue studies which focus on Métis culture.

Benefits

  • Two annual awards of $20,000 each. If in any given year there are not two eligible candidates, the unused funds contributed by Gabriel Dumont Institute may be carried forward for future years, extending the life of the scholarships.
  • Holders of this award are eligible for renewal for one additional year provided they remain enrolled in a graduate program, continue to meet the eligibility requirements, and are in good academic standing, as determined by the Award Committee

Requirements

Open to students entering or continuing graduate studies in the College of Arts and Science who are pursuing or intend to pursue studies which focus on Métis culture. As determined by the Award Committee, preference will be given to eligible students who:

  • have graduated from high school in the province of Saskatchewan
  • are Métis

Selection will be based on research excellence, as determined by the Award Committee.

Applicants for this scholarship must provide the following:

  • a cover letter outlining their research interests in Métis history and culture
  • an up-to-date CV
  • all university transcripts
  • two letters of reference
